Hello!
My name is Ashley Reeves. I am the new Special Education Teacher at Oakridge Middle School. I am so excited to get started working with the students and families at Oakridge. The staff at Oakridge has been amazing so far!
I am originally from the east side of Michigan. I grew up in Livonia with my family (my parents, and two brothers). My younger brother is actually just going into high school this school year, so I would like to think that I have some experience working with the middle school population. I have a niece and nephew back on the east side of the state who I try to visit as often as I can. I recently moved out to Grand Rapids last summer and have been loving the west side of the state. It is beautiful and very exciting.
I went to school at Michigan State University. I majored in Elementary Education, and Special Education (Learning Disabilities). I, also, minored in Language Arts. I then had a student teaching position in Farmington working in a 2nd grade classroom and a K-4 Resource Room. It was a great learning experience!
For the past school year I was working as a high school resource room teacher in Grand Rapids. I was also working on completing my Master's Degree from Michigan State University in Special Education with an endorsement in Autism Spectrum Disorders. I have finished my degree this summer and am so excited to have no homework this school year. That will give me plenty of time and energy to focus on my students at Oakridge.
