Class Information
The resource course is designed to support students with foundational skills, as well as keep them on track in their general education courses. This will involve working on students goals, as described in their individualized education programs, organizational skills, and life skills. Students will work independently and with their teacher to develop these skills for success. Many resources and interventions will be assigned to students on a personal level. Some of the resources used are Read Naturally, Accelerated Reader, ACT Writing Prompts, and MobyMax. Students may have time to complete homework or have questions answered about other courses during this time, so they should always come prepared! Bi-weekly grade reports will be generated and discussed with the students. These will need to be returned to school with a parent signature each Monday (after the Friday they are sent home).
Class Materials:
- Pencils
- Pen
- 2-Pocket Folder
- 1 subject Notebook
Assignments:
Assignments will be updated weekly. There will be information about each assignment and videos to support student and parent learning. If any links do not work, please let me know ASAP!Grading for assignments in daily class work will be graded according to a 3-point scale. All three points will be awarded to students who complete the assignment, get all or mostly correct answers, and appear to show an effort. Two points will be awarded for work that is mostly complete, 2-3 problems incorrect, and gave average effort. One point will be awarded to students who do not complete most of the work, get many incorrect problems, and did not give much effort. And, zero points will be awarded to students who do not complete the assignment, or gave very minimal effort.
Writing assignments will be graded according to a writing rubric. The rubric may differ for different assignments in the course. The students will be provided with information needed for the assignments according to the rubric, and a copy of the rubric with their score after it has been graded.
Please contact me with any questions about grading.
